PlanIT Valley Overview
PlanIT Valley is designed to be the world’s premier center of sustainable community innovation and research, to be developed and operated in
collaboration and partnership with the world’s leading companies, research and educational institutions.
PlanIT Valley, located on 1,700 hectares of land in the municipality of Paredes, Northern Portugal, will be Living PlanIT’s center of research,
development and operations – and the first realization of Living PlanIT’s vision and business model within an urban scale community built around
innovation, sustainability, education, diversity and meaningful employment.
Living Plan IT believes that PlanIT Valley will be an inspirational environment for residents and visitors in which to live, work, play and learn. Its
infrastructure and facilities will create an integrated and continually evolving living laboratory and research platform, employing state of the art
technology, and providing an environment where the community can develop, deploy and experience technologies that address critical world market,
economic, social, environmental and ecological needs. Research models have evolved over the past 50 years – from isolated corporate labs to regional
centres of competitive and cooperative innovation. PlanIT Valley marks a major advance in that evolution.
Design on PlanIT Valley has been underway since July 2008; implementation will begin in 4Q09, and is scheduled for completion in 2013.
