WHAT MAKES COMPANIES SUCCESSFUL?
INTRODUCTION.
A small company with the purpose of becoming successful will turn to see the large successful
and multimillion dollar companies and try to understand what they did to get to the place where
they are. Facebook, Apple and Walmart are examples of successful companies, with net worths
of billions of dollars and thousands of employee's working for them, is normal that entrepreneur
aspire to be as great as them, and Forbes (2013) gives us an idea of habits that companies
does to become successful.
DEVELOPMENT/ BODY.
Forbes (2013), through a study made by its editors, showed us six habits of successful
companies.
They have a mission and They keep employees happy. Having a mission helps companies
focus and make decisions that guide them to achieve their goals. Whether the mission is
ecological or religious or any type, companies create a unique identity, and achieve a
connection with employees and buyers. “If you treat employees as if they make a difference to
the company, they will make a difference.” -Jim Goodnight.
They react quickly, adapt and they work the long term. The market changes a lot throughout the
years, and companies have to adapt to it so they can keep successful. Also, they make
decisions and take risk that gives them benefits in the future.
They have a family plan. Having a family council or some other mutually approved oversight
structure will help protect the company over time. And last, they're not islands meaning that they
don't do it alone, companies recruit real outsiders for the board and put them in executive
positions.
CLOSING.
In conclusion companies don't become successful from overnight, they make mistakes and
learn from that, always look for innovation and ways to improve their services. It is true that we
shouldn't just follow what other companies do to become equally successful, because the lack
of originality will cause that we become just a copy and that's not the point, But knowing how
other companies did it, can guide us throughout process, learn from their mistakes and adapt
and improved the way that we manage our company.
