while shopping. For questions one to five, choose from the list A to F. What each speaker says
about her experience. Use the letters only once. There is one extra letter which you do not need
to use. Speaker 1.

Well, my friend Meg and I had just been to Carey's, you know, the department store in
Crickleburn. Then we thought we would go along to the open air market. There was my first time
and definitely my last. You won't catch me there again after what happened. I mean, I just put it
down for a minute. Luckily I'd just taken my wallet out to pay for a really nice pair of sandals I'd
found. When I bent down to pick it up, it was gone. I'll only be doing my shopping in the high
street from now on, I can tell you.

I have to say it's a nice place. I was impressed by the variety in the different departments. In
fact, I bought a lovely pair of curtains for my bathroom window. However, I don't think I'll be a
frequent shopper there. I really like the hustle and bustle of the city centre shopping streets.
Going in and out of different shops and getting a bit of fresh air in between. I also like to stop for
a coffee and I know they've got a cafeteria on the fifth floor next to the menswear department.
But it's not the same as being able to look out the window at life in the street. No, I don't think I'll
be going there very often.

I had a day off last week, so I decided to spend it shopping. After breakfast I took the bus to the
city centre and spent the whole day going round the shops. This is no hardship, of course, as I
love shopping. I was actually looking for a pair of shoes, but I couldn't find anything that I liked.
However, I did buy a few other odds and sods. Just before catching the bus home, I popped into
Carey's, the department store, and there they were. They're perfect and fit me like a glove. I
must say I hadn't been looking forward to going home disappointed. So luckily I didn't.

[00:03:09.700] - Speaker 1 Speaker 4. [00:03:14.510] - Speaker 3 I had to go into town last Saturday morning. You see, I'm going to my sister's wedding at the end of the month and I need to find something to wear, otherwise you wouldn't have caught me dead in all that chaos. It was like my worst nightmare. However, luckily I ran into one of the girls from work. We had a coffee. Then she took me to a place she knew and helped me pick something out. I I was so grateful because knowing me, I could just as easily have gone home empty handed. [00:03:50.130] - Speaker 1 Speaker 5. [00:03:54.930] - Speaker 2 My friend Martha asked me to go shopping with her last weekend as she wanted to buy a new outfit for a party she was going to. I thought, why not? It's very hard for me to turn down an offer like that. Of course, now I have to borrow to get me through the month, but it was worth it. I bought a beautiful pair of shoes and some really nice jewellery in the new open air street market. In fact, I ended up forking out a lot more than Martha, who I was supposed to be advising.
