Abstract: Lymphatic drainage is a type of massage, soft and light, which is applied on the circulatory system and whose objective is to mobilize the body fluids to promote the elimination of waste substances that accumulate in the fluid that occupies the space between cells. Keywords: lymphedema, pressotherapy, lymph, drainage, multilayer bandage, pathophysiological, reabsorption of fluids. Introduction: The lymphatic system is the set of vessels, lymph nodes and organs that work together to fight infections and eliminate waste, the liquid that transports is called lymph so it functions as a drainage system that collects excess fluid from the tissues to return them to the bloodstream so that when there is an alteration of the balance in this system there is an increase of liquid in the interstitial space, so it can also be a characteristic sign of an underlying pathology. This paper will show different techniques of manual therapy focused on lymphatic drainage for various bodily disorders that are a problem in our society and the multiple benefits they provide to people who suffer from them. Objective The objective of drainage is to stimulate lymphatic circulation to improve the flow and elimination of interstitial fluid and lymph. Body Drainage consists of a series of massages, soft, repetitive, non-painful and relaxing with which it is achieved:  “Anti-edema” action (vaciating the accumulated fluid)  Calming action (acts on the nervous system, giving a feeling of well-being and relaxation to the patient)  Analgesic action Manual Lymphatic Drainage acts on the lymphatic system, decreasing muscle tone, it should not cause pain, it is performed at low speed with gentle and repetitive pressure (the rhythm must be stabilized at all times), oils or any type of lubricants are not used and the lymphatic route must be respected, that is, the direction of the lymphatic route towards the evacuation zones. Manual Lymphatic Drainage allows to reach a state of tranquility or relaxation of the patient, reduces pain (thanks to the fact that it releases the pressure of free nerve endings, that the brain gives priority to the massage stimulus and not to the painful stimulus and that Manual Lymphatic Drainage cleans of toxic and harmful substances to the tissues), stimulates the immune action of our body. It cannot be performed in people who have uncontrolled malignant tumors that have caused recent metastases, infections, heart failure and thrombosis and can be performed WITH CAUTION in people with hypothyroidism, hypotension, chronic infections, controlled tumors, pregnancy, among others.
