Anders Lifestyle Change Center
An alternative vacation
In a world where many of us are suffering from stress, many people are choosing to spend their
vacations at a health center. Here are the stories of three people who decided to spend their annual
vacations at the Anders Lifestyle Change Center.
Brenda had a lot of problems after her divorce. She was underweight and didn't have a lot of energy.
She also suffered from a lack of sleep. She says, ''One advantage of ALCC is that it doesn't just offer
one treatment like a special diet; it offers different therapies. I exercised, took workshops on
healthy living, did yoga and practiced meditation. I particularly enjoyed learning to ride a horse and
caring for the horses. ALCC has changed my life.''
Shirley, a bank manager, had become very stressed at work and decided to go to ALCC to relax. As
Shirley explained, ''Work was terrible. There was a lot of pressure to succeed, and many of my
colleagues were jealous of me. A friend recommended ALCC. I could afford it since I earned a lot of
money.'' At the center, Shirley discovered yoga. She enjoyed the sessions so much that she now
plans to leave her job and train to become a yoga instructor. Shirley was also surprised by how
delicious low-fat food could be.
Robert was diagnosed as obese a year ago. His wife encouraged him go to the center, although he
didn't like the idea very much. Robert found doing team sports the most difficult because he felt
embarrassed about his weight. ''I felt like such a fool at first playing all the games,'' he says.
Although he is impressed with the results of the center, unlike Brenda and Shirley, he would never
recommend it as an alternative way to spend a summer vacation. ''It may be great for your health,
but it's no vacation. I had to work hard, eat a lot of horrible vegetables and it cost a lot of money,'' he
comments.
