1. What tourist places have you visited in those countries?
We are a group of pals living in Bogota and we decided to visit three different countries.
The first country was France; we like history, so we visited "La Concergerie", a place that
transports you to the last days of Queen Marie Antoinette. We also went for a walk in
Versailles, visiting the palace and the Triagnons and then had a picnic in the beautiful
gardens of Versailles, where the afternoons are dreamy and you can explore its nooks and
crannies and beautiful fountains.
The second place was Spain; there, we visited the Real Alcazar located in Seville and finally
we arrived in Canada, where we visited Niagara Falls and the National Park of Banff.
2. What have you faced which was embarrassing due to lack of cultural knowledge? Describe
an anecdote you had in one of those countries because you did not consider cultural
behavior?
We have seen that in these countries, the cultural customs are different from our own. We
have several anecdotes, but we will share one: When we stayed at a hotel in Canada one
embarrassing things happened. Upon arrival, a our room we lost the keys to our room.
Since the pronunciation of “keys” and “kiss” are very similar, when we asked someone
from security if he had seen the keys, he thought we wanted kisses. It was so
embarrassing! So when we checked out, we got charged for snacks and a fee to replace
our lost keys! We have learned a few lessons about traveling abroad.
3. Do you consider important to learn English? Why and what have you done to learn and
improve your English knowledge?
Is important to speak English as it allows us to have a better communication with people
from other places and allows us to have a better cultural development. In order to improve
our English language we have implemented English readings, along with the use of
applications that allow us to have a better connection with the language.
