REFLECTION PAPER
The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) is a state university in the
Philippines. The creation of USeP aimed to address the need for higher
education institutions in the southeastern part of the Philippines, particularly in
Davao City, Mindanao. The University was created through Republic Act No.
4196, which was enacted on June 19, 1965. It began as the Mindanao State
University-Davao Branch in 1965. Then, on July 11, 1978, through Presidential
Decree No. 1319, it was converted into a university and renamed the University of
Southeastern Philippines.
As a student at the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), I am privileged
to be part of an institution that holds a strong vision of becoming a premier
research university that transforms communities not only within the ASEAN
region but also beyond. This vision resonates deeply with me as it reflects a
commitment to creating meaningful change and impact through education and
research.
USeP's mission to contribute to inclusive growth and sustainable development
through continual innovation is inspiring. The emphasis on proactive academic
programs, impactful research, community services, and sustainable resource
management underscores the university's dedication to holistic development and
societal progress.
One of the key strengths of USeP is its commitment to internationalization. By
offering diverse programs and services that are aligned with global standards,
USeP prepares its students to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world. This
international perspective enhances the quality of education and fosters a culture
of innovation and excellence.
The university's focus on innovation and research, development, and extension
(RDE) creates a nurturing environment where students and faculty can explore
new ideas, technologies, and solutions to real-world challenges. This emphasis
on creativity and critical thinking equips graduates with the skills and knowledge
needed to address complex issues and make meaningful contributions to society.
Moreover, USeP's dedication to serving vulnerable and disadvantaged groups
and communities reflects its commitment to social responsibility and inclusivity.
