Question 1 Discuss the care of Mary Lyons, a primigravida who was admitted at 12 weeks gestation with a threatened miscarriage. (100 marks) Question 2 Discuss the initial assessment of Joan Murphy, a primigravida who has been admitted to the antenatal ward at 36 weeks gestation with raised B/P and proteinuria. Her BP was last recorded as 140/100 mm/Hg and urinalysis showed proteinuria ++. (100 marks) Question 3 Discuss the indications for and possible complications of a ventouse delivery. (100 marks) Question 4 “Because shoulder dystocia is unpredictable, it is not preventable. All midwives should be prepared to deal with this emergency. It is advisable to commit to memory a series of manoeuvres.” (Chapman 2003:193). Discuss the midwifery management of shoulder dystocia. (100 marks) Question 5 Discuss the predisposing factors and care of a woman (Gravida 3, Para 2) who has been diagnosed with a cord prolapse following spontaneous rupture of membranes in the first stage of labour.
