GOOD MORNING TO YOU MR./MS. DEPUTY PRIME
MINISTER, I’M JUAN CARLOS DESCANZO
As the deputy leader of the opposing party, we
respectfully disagree with or protest to the notion of
making same-sex unions legal. For the sake of this
discussion, we just want to let you all know that even if
the majority of our positions may seem discriminatory,
they do not necessarily reflect our beliefs and opinions on
this subject. Thank you!
SO OKAY, WHY SAME SEX MARRIAGE SHOULDN’T BE
LEGALIZED IN THE PHILIPPINES? HERE IN OUR COUNTRY?
LET ME GIVE YOU AN ANSWER ON THAT.
FIRST OF ALL, Same sex marriage shouldn’t be legalized in the
Philippines yet, because same sex marriage would disrupt the
original meaning of marriage, it shouldn’t also be the end point or
the spring board to push the LGBT agenda, and it hinders the
state in protecting the LGBT community.
There are things that we cannot immediately push through;
certain processes must be followed. It’s like writing an essay. In
order for it to be considered good or read worthy, there is a flow
chart that has to be followed. This way the thoughts you have is
organized and is not clumped together in a disorganized manner,
this system works in every essay. Just like the legalization of
same sex marriage, specifically here in the Philippines. I believe
that same sex marriage should not be legalized yet because there
are a lot of loopholes in the system. The LGBT community should
start small in reducing the discrimination against them. This talks
about how same sex marriage disrupts the original meaning of
marriage; the meaning that everyone started with.

FIRST OF ALL, Same sex marriage shouldn’t be legalized in the Philippines yet, because same sex marriage would disrupt the original meaning of marriage, it shouldn’t also be the end point or the spring board to push the LGBT agenda, and it hinders the state in protecting the LGBT community. There are things that we cannot immediately push through; certain processes must be followed. It’s like writing an essay. In order for it to be considered good or read worthy, there is a flow chart that has to be followed. This way the thoughts you have is organized and is not clumped together in a disorganized manner, this system works in every essay. Just like the legalization of same sex marriage, specifically here in the Philippines. I believe that same sex marriage should not be legalized yet because there are a lot of loopholes in the system. The LGBT community should start small in reducing the discrimination against them. This talks about how same sex marriage disrupts the original meaning of marriage; the meaning that everyone started with. 2 ND^ IS THAT, Why Same Sex Marriage is UNJUST.

Proponents of same-sex marriage often defend their view by appealing to the concept of justice. But a significant argument from justice against same-sex marriage can be made also, as follows. Heterosexual union has special social value because it is the indispensable means by which humans come into existence. What has special social value deserves special recognition and sanction. Civil ordinances that recognize same-sex marriage as comparable to heterosexual marriage constitute a rejection of the special social value of heterosexual unions, and to deny such special social value is unjust. LIKE WHAT ALLIANA SAID A WHILE AGO, Marriage is for procreation. Same sex couples should be prohibited from marriage because they cannot produce children together. The purpose of marriage should not shift away from producing and raising children to adult gratification. Contrary to the pro gay marriage argument that some different-sex couples cannot have children or don’t want them, even in those cases there is still the potential to produce children. Seemingly infertile heterosexual couples sometimes produce children, and medical advances may allow others to procreate in the future. Heterosexual couples who do not wish to have children are still biologically capable of having them, and may change their minds. And finally, Article 1 of the Family Code of the Philippines only recognizes marriage between a man or a woman wherein it serves as I quote, “establishment of conjugal and family life”. Even the present Constitution serves no basis on the legality of same-sex unions. According to a survey it shows that 85% of law students in the city of IloIlo believes that a ban on same sex unions or marriages for homosexual couples doesn’t necessarily mean that their right of equal protection under the law is violated. It is grounded on the following arguments:

"Gay marriage is a civil right."

This is based on the false assumption that homosexuality is the same sort of human difference as race. But while the difference between sexual orientations is profound (one desires the opposite sex and procreates while the other does neither), racial difference has no intrinsic bearing on love and marriage. This is why philosophically opposed African American leaders such as Shelby Steele and Jesse Jackson agree that "gay marriage is simply not a civil rights issue." About love Marriage is not just about attachment and having an emotional feeling. You know, what would be the essence QUESTIONS FOR THE PRO-SIDE

  1. If a Same sex marriage happens, it is like breaking the true image of Marriage
  2. How do laws that limit marriage to heterosexuals affect gay and lesbian people?
  3. Why can marriage exist only between a man and a woman?
  4. Why do same sex couple need to be married? Can't they just follow what the church wants for a marriage?
  5. What about the argument that when you make marriage about rights and equal treatment you ultimately open up the field to other sorts of relationships
  6. Why is marriage important? Can a gay couple just live their life? OPPOSITION WHIP Good morning, I want to inform you that I will speak on behalf of our opposition whip, because she is not feeling well. Thank you My statement is that my debate team believes that same sex marriage is not a good idea because it undermines the fundamental purpose of marriage - to create a lasting and committed relationship between a man and a woman binding themselves to each other for a purpose of procreation, and to raise a family. Note that marriage is not just about love and happiness, it is also about fulfilling a natural function. Same sex marriage does not fulfil this purpose, and is therefore not appropriate. Article 149 of the Family Code of the Philippines defines the family as those: between husband and wife; between parents and children. Even the law is clear on what a family should constitute, It takes a man and a woman to produce an offspring, not a man and a man nor a woman and a woman because that would be biologically impossible. The reason why marriage is always been between a man and a woman is because they can produce. Social conservatives and others who oppose same-sex unions assert that marriage between a man and a woman is the bedrock of a healthy society because it leads to stable families and, ultimately, to children who grow up to be productive adults. Allowing gay and lesbian couples to wed, they argue, will radically redefine marriage and further weaken it at a time when the institution is

already in deep trouble due to high divorce rates and the significant number of out-of-wedlock births. If Philippines were to legalize same sex marriage it would violate the religious freedom and the longheld morals of the majority and you cannot interfere with the business of the church or use religious arguments to support rights for same sex. That is all I have to say as the opposition whip of my group. Thank you
