A research study on speech acts in walt disney's 'frozen' film. The study uses descriptive qualitative research to analyze the dialogue transcript of the film, identifying four types of speech acts: representative, expressive, directive, and commisive. The findings reveal the most frequently occurring speech act in the film is directive, and the study suggests that children can imitate and adopt utterances indicating one or more type of speech act, contributing to their language acquisition.

1. Introduction Literary works such as plays, novels, films consists of dialogue between the characters. Through dialogue between each character, we can get a message from the film. This means that film as a medium of communication is functioning as a medium for conveying messages. Messages in a film can be in the form of words, phrases, clauses, an sentences. Oral discourse consisting of various kinds of utterances and actions. One character in the film can perform multiple actions when he or she delivers several utterances. Characters have a role to play show information. Frozen is one of the films produced by Walt Disney Animation Studio and released in 2013. It is one of the famous movie inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tale called The Snow Queen. She tells the story of a brave princess who sets out on a journey along with the rugged iceman, his loyal reindeer and snowmen to find his sister who has the power of ice. His sister has trapping their kingdom in eternal winter through force. Frozen is also one of the representations of the children's film genre. Regarding speech acts, there is a phenomenon in Walt Disney film Frozen is about how speech acts work commonly used in movies. It is selected as the object of learn because it has a lot of dialogue in the form of speech which can be analyzed in the aspect of speech acts. This film also has won several awards. 2. Method - This study uses descriptive qualitative research which refers to research procedures to produce descriptive data belonging to people written or spoken words, and observable behavior. - The main data of this study were dialogue transcript of the film. - The source of the data was Walt Disney Film entitled Frozen. The data collected from the utterances performed in the dialogues by the character in Frozen. - The writers watch the film comprehensively in order to get a deep comprehension. - They also try to find out the lingual units related to the objective of the study.
