3. Surgery: Colon
resection, colectomy with
colostomy, ileostomy
Nursing intervention:
1. Pain management
2. Nutrition and hydration
3. Emotional support
4. Reccognition of signs and symptoms
6. Post surgery treatment and mgt
(ileostomy/colostomy care)
7. Rehabiliation and recovery
Late signs:
1. Weight loss
2. Pain and pallor
3. Bloody stool
4. Cachexia
5. Hepatomegaly
6. lymphagiectasis
S/Sx :
1. Rectal bleeding
2. Change in bowel color,
shape and consistency
3. Body Malaise
4. Fatigue
DIagnostic Tests:
1. Colonoscopy with BIOPSY :
definitive diagnosis
2. MRI
3. FOBT
4. CEA / tumor markers
5. Fecal immunochemical test
6. Sigmoidoscopy/ Procotoscopy
7. Double Barium Enema
