DEFINITION 20

  1. CoC Could have better training program For more of the labourer jobs, the employees just get put into a classroom and learn about the machines and then they get put with a random operator to learn their job. We recommend that the company creates a training plan consisting of proper orientation of the job, inside training, being assigned a mentor and then getting external training.

Slide 11 - 2

  1. Implement programs better The company has many policies and programs in place but for issues such as bullying and depression, the employees dont have many opportunities for awareness or help on these topics. Especially, being in such a big industry, many employees find that they feel alone and dont have anyone to talk to if they are having issues at work. We recommend that programs are implemented requiring attendance of talks on these topics by speakers brought in or by supervisors. TERM 22

Slide 11 - 3

DEFINITION 22

  1. Special assignment Teck has a rule where for most labourer jobs that they will hire you on, special assignment which means you can be on probation from 1 month 5 years. This is a very big gap, and in this time your job is not secure at all, you do not get any vacation time and the company has the ability to lay you off at any time. We recommend that Teck revises this rule as, a month to 5 years is a very big gap and this may defer future workers. TERM 23
