Descriptions: Group 1 Objective Descriptions Writer presents impartial and actual picture of the subject without biases and excluding personal impression. Group 2 Subjective description , The writer gives personal impression of what is observed. Definitions: Group 3 Informal Definition

1. Denotation The dictionary meaning of the word. 2. Connotation The secondary meaning of a word and not necessarily included in the dictionary. Group 4 Formal definition Three principal parts: 1.Species Word - is the name of the object, process, or concept defined

  1. Genus Class - general group to which the object belongs.
  2. Differentiae
    • details of the definition of the word that makes the word different from the other terms

1. Objective description It presents impartial and actual picture of the subject without biases and excluding personal impression. 2.   2. Informal definition, and
  3. Extended or expanded definition.
