Lab 7 Closed Loop System

Objective:

 Describe the components of the Sunstrand closed loop system.  Take measurements of the system, case, charge, and vacuum pressures.  Keep track of the speed of the motor's output shaft when it is working.  Determine the torque and acceleration.

Procedure:

  1. The revolving maintained track of the part number and rotation of the Sunstrand Pump. Locate the pump and make note of its size and kind.
  2. Take note of the pressure rating of the hoses that connect the pump to the motor.
  3. Wait a few minutes after turning on the appliance for the oil to warm up.
  4. Record observations and data in the table below.
  5. Change the angle of the pump's swash plate to maximize flow and record the pressure gauge data in the table below.
  6. Once it is done, take note of the oil's temperature.
  7. Change the angle of the pump's swash plate to allow for the greatest amount of flow in the opposite direction. The information from the pressure gauges is given in the table below.
  8. Remove the steel rod from the motor housing (may have to loosen 4 screws from the end plate). The hydraulic system was activated. Keep track of the reading in the table as you watch.
  9. Turn off the hydraulic unit by flipping the disconnect switch to the off position.
  10. Remove the four screws that secure the top to the hydraulic motor housing.
  11. Remove the metal discs that cover the housing.
  12. Make a note of the discs' size and mass.
  13. Replace the back cover plate and insert the heaviest weight into the shaft.
  14. Turn on the power source for the electricity and start the hydraulic system.
  15. Operate the drive in both forward and reverse, then record the data listed below.

Equipment List:

 Hydraulic unit  Pressure Gauge  Pump  Motor  Connecting Hoses  Tachometer  Electronic thermometer

Conclusion:

This type of closed-loop circuit can be operated in both directions. The mechanism is started in one direction using electric motor assistance. The charge pump begins to rotate and feed oil into the circuit from the reservoir with its help. This mechanism can also function in the opposite manner by turning the
