The most famous failed experiment It is believed by scientists that universe is filled by ether. Ether was supposed to be the universal reference frame. Where matter and light moves in ether and any speed has an absolute and defined value with respect to ether. It has been tested. Scientist come up with a conclusion that there is no such thing as ether which is supposed to be a universal reference frame. They lost a belief but discovered a reality. Speed of light is constant, free of reference frame. In 1905 it brought a Nobel Prize to Einstein after interpreting results of this experiment on the basis of Lorentz Transformations. (^) Special Relativity Michelson Morley Experiment- 1887
Fill in the reverse experiment table below: Homework 1.1. Scientific Experiment Who carried out the experim ent? Where did he/she do it? When did he/she do it? How did he/ she do it? ? Why did he/ she do it? How did the experiments resulted in? Michelson- Morley DNA Double helix Faraday Experiment Volta experiment Avery– MacLeod– McCarty experiment
