  1. Why are the connective tissue wrappings of the skeletal muscle important? Give three reasons. Connective tissue wrappings of skeletal muscle provide support and protection to the muscle. They help to keep it in place and maintain its shape. Connective tissue wrappings of skeletal muscle help protect the muscles from injury. They help stop blood flow that could lead to clotting, and any fluid that collects in between layers can be absorbed into them rather than staying in contact with the muscles, which could cause problems over time. Connective tissue wrappings of skeletal muscle allow for movement by supporting the sliding fibers that make up sarcomeres, as well as by preventing any tearing or rupturing of these fibers in response to large forces.
