Reflection on Language and
Communication
1. What do you think will happen after a language comes into a contact with another? (10
points)
It's unbelievable to think that over 120 different languages are spoken in our nation. Our
ability to communicate and comprehend one another's ideas is made possible through language.
As we develop, languages are vital. For us to communicate effectively, it is something we need
to learn and comprehend. We have so many different languages that it is unthinkable that you
have never interacted with or spoken to someone who speaks a different language in your life. I
can attest to this because I have had the experience, and I will explain as well as describe what
happened when we spoke and how to resolve this type of issue.
Every problem has a solution, yet every people have a problem we just have to find the
solution for these. The encounter with my grandma, who occasionally spoke in a different
language, was a fascinating event for me. We frequently can't understand one another because
she speaks Kinaray-a and I occasionally speak Tagalog and English. As a result, I get scared
easily because I misunderstand how she says phrases that I don't understand, I've even thought
she was angry with me, but my mother assured me it's just how they communicate regularly.
When I communicate with her, I stop being afraid and start to consider all of the thoughts that
are going through my head. This helps me to be understanding and enjoy my time at home with
my family.
Due to the language barrier, we frequently translate what she is saying using Google,
but thanks to my mother, who does this regularly, we don't always need to. Furthermore, In my
opinion, it will be difficult for two individuals speaking different languages to communicate
because they cannot comprehend each other. However, they will be able to do so by using hand
gestures and, of course, a translation. In general, languages serve as a means of0human
communication and understanding. Speaking a language and any number of languages beyond
two results in increased brain activity.

  1. What are the barriers to communication you often experience in your daily interactions (give at least three)? Explain how they affect your communication and relationship with people. (15 points) Does your knowledge are right enough to be familiar with barriers to communication? Are you prepared if something has distracted your relationship with people? Do you consider yourself a knowledgeable person who integrates the skills in preventing barriers to communication? There is anywhere around that we cannot force to stop or rather predict it comes. Anywhere around there is a distraction that we cannot control but how we can associate and interfere with those barriers. Communication has always barrier and I will tell you the three of them that I often experience in my daily interactions also, I will tell how they affect my communication and relationship with people. And these are when the Internet is down when the cellphone battery died and when they not listening. First, the internet is down, this barrier is what I often experience because we are all in the media now and media is our tool to communicate with our teachers, friends, and family I think I’m not the only one who experiences this because 80% of people use a smartphone. It is also unpredictable because our system here in the Philippines is so bad when it comes to internet connection. A scenario of this that I always experience is when rainy days and when I have an important meeting when I’m in senior high days I often missed important meetings like brainstorming for our activities. So usually, I’m late and I can’t keep up with giving ideas and everything because my internet is down. I don’t know why but it’s always right on those days. Next is the cellphone battery dies, It is a barrier related to me every day because I’m the youngest and I’m always the one who takes their orders. The most annoying barrier nowadays, just like the previous barrier to communication is also related to that because we are in the media era, and we use cell phones every day to communicate with our family just to ask how’s their day, etc. This barrier affects my communication with people because of this I can’t finish what I want to ask to say either to the people I talk to, like for example my family asks me to go grocery to buy food for our stocks and then they chat with me to add this and that and if I ask them what size the small one or the big one then suddenly the battery dies and it will turn your grocery shopping is not enough. Lastly is the lack of interest or they are not listening at all, this barrier is related to anyone, but I think I’m the most often. This barrier causes a conversation to stop and sometimes it causes sulking to both parties. But sometimes if I’m not passionate about the topic of discussion, then neither will the listener. If it is not interesting for both parties, communication could fail. For example, I am talking to my best friend and the topic is my relationship and he is not listening because the event cycle in my relationship is repeatedly just over and over again the effect of that barrier in our communication is that our conversation will stop, and it ended to start the new topic. All over, every barrier is very strong, and it will cause an end to communication and listening. However, it is depending on the person how they will handle this situation and be more
