  5. A coal-fired power plant has upgraded an emission control valve. The modification costs only Php 9,000 and is expected to last 6 years. The maintenance cost is expected to be high at Php 1,600 the first year, decreasing by 12% per year thereafter. Determine the equivalent present worth of the modification and maintenance cost if the interest rate is 8% per year. Ans: Php 14,658.
  6. A building has a salvage value of Php 1,000,000.00 after 50 years. Annual depreciation is Php 2,000,000.00. Using straight line method of depreciation, how many years after should you sell the building for Php 30,000,000. Ans: 35.5 years
  7. An equipment is bought at Php 420,000 with an economic life of 6 years and a salvage value of Php 50,000.00. Compute the third year depreciation using the Declining Balance Method. Ans: Php 61,697.
