a. The Department of Science and Technology in the

Philippines is a government agency tasked with

overseeing and managing national technology

development and acquisition, undertaking technological

and scientific research and promoting public

consciousness of science and technology

 (^) Science and technology in the Philippines describes scientific and technological progress made by the Philippines and analyzes related policy issues.  (^) The main agency responsible for managing science and technology (S&T) is the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). There are also sectoral councils for Forestry, Agriculture and Aquaculture, the Metal Industry, Nuclear Research, Food and Nutrition, Health, Meteorology, Volcanology and Seismology.

What are the different priorities of science and technology agenda for the national development?

 Improvement on the role of science and

technology depends on the adoption of

appropriate policies and activities on at least

four areas:

 human resources development,

 demand for knowledge in the private sector,

 public support of science and technology

and access to information and

communication technologies (lCT).

  • (^) Sustainable Livelihood Program.
  • (^) Supplementary Feed Program.
  • (^) Social Pension Program.

What are the rural development programs in the Philippines?  The Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) is a six-year national government project implemented by the DA which aims to i) increase rural incomes, and enhance farm and fishery productivity in 16 regions and 80 provinces and ii) make the agriculture and fishery sector more market-oriented and climate-resilient.
