2. Introduce a company with good practice in lean manufacture. What are the benefits of lean
manufacture?
- A company with a good practice in lean manufacturing is Toyota. In Toyota, lean manufacturing is
called Toyota Production System (TPS) which is Toyota's production and logistics philosophy,
encompassing its interactions with suppliers and consumers. TPS's major purpose is to eliminate
waste, often known as "muda."
- The benefit of lean manufacturing includes:
- Less infrastructure needed: Lean manufacturing only uses the building space, equipment,
tools, materials, and labor required to fulfill consumers' short-term inventory needs.
- Limited waste: Lean manufacturing reduces outdated or old inventory as well as the risk of
particular items expiring.
- Increased profits: More productivity with less waste and higher quality results in a more
profitable organization.
